There is a website that refers to Las Vegas as a giant gold plated turd. Glitz & glitter on the surface but pure shit at its core. That, in my opinion, sums it up pretty well. Yet, there is something there. Why else would that website’s authors, myself, and millions of others return time and again? The reason is the spectacle. It is one, great, big, obnoxious, show. We checked in to the Imperial Palace and I asked to be upgraded to a deluxe room and the guy did and I gave him a tip. After going up to our room, I would hate to see what the non-deluxe room looks like. We had a view of the parking lot. Sorry, no pictures, I must have left them in Colorado, at least I hope so. So, on our brief stop in LA, Aunt Terri gave us a hot tip on a game to play. Let it Ride was the name of the game. She said it’s easy to win. We gave it a go and it was not our lucky try. We lost a little and moved on. Wendy and I took in a show this trip. The IP deal we booked under gave us two for one passes to their variety impersonator show “Legends in Concert”. It was nice diversion. There was a Shania Twain, a Prince, the Rolling Stones, the Beatles, and an Aretha Franklin who was definitely the top talent. The Elvis was the grand finale and a lot of fun. It made me start to think about naming a kid Elvis. Not that I really would, I was just wondering why there are not more Elvis’. Can there be only one? The highlight, however, for reasons you are about to find out, was the Madonna. She was not the best singer or dancer of the show. But she performed a particular song that was just perfect for our occasion. She sang “Don’t cry for me Argentina” with such feeling and it was perfect for Wendy and I. We were tickled. I took my winnings ($55) from the Christmas left, right, and center game and entered myself into a poker tournament. I promptly lost. We entered a contest to go into a both where fans blow money around. We didn’t get picked. We played some blackjack. That’s about all I have to say about Vegas. It did give Wendy and I a nice break of togetherness between hectic and emotional times with family and friends.
